About us

  Merlin title
The Merlin Rocket is a two person high performance development class dinghy with a spinnaker. It’s a versatile boat and will perform well on both open seas and inland waters. Various hull designs allow crews to choose the particular hull that suits their size, weight and age. The Welsh Harp is ideal for the Merlin, being a mile in length and 100 acres in area with a prevailing south westerly wind, allowing excellent windward sailing.

  MRX
MRX A variant of the Merlin, the MRX was designed by Phil Morrison and pioneered at WSC. It’s complements the Merlin Rocket and they sail and start together. However they differ in that the MRX has a smooth hull and a fully battened mainsail while the Merlin has a clinker hull and a regular mainsail.

  Laser
The Laser is one of the most popular single-handed dinghies in the world and is well supported here at WSC. The Laser is robust, simple to rig and sail and comparably inexpensive. We have a wide spectrum of sailing ability in the Laser fleet, so there’s always plenty of competition for everyone during racing. If you don't have a boat and would like to get involved we have six club Lasers which are available for club members to race and train in.

  RS200
RS200 The RS200 is a four metre, double handed, hiking, racing dinghy. It was designed in 1995 by Phil Morrison and has an uncomplicated asymmetric spinnaker and low sheet loads on the sail controls. It has a lightweight polyester GRP hull construction and an optimum crew weight of around 21 stone (133kg). This makes it especially popular with parents to sail with children. WSC has a RS200 for members to use.
